Four moves from intent to settlement

All four happen on every swap, from the quote to the coins arriving, and the swap's page shows each one as it happens, down to the transaction hash of the payout.

A quote, taken apart

This is a real quote for 1 ETH to USDC on Ethereum, fetched while you read. Each line is something a swap interface can hide. We show all of them, with the reason it matters.

You send
1 ETH

The exact amount you send. Nothing more is taken.

Estimated output

The amount the exchange offers right now, with every fee below already taken out.

Solar Swap fee

Our fee, already taken out of the output above. Nothing is added on top.

Network fees

The exchange's fees and the fee for sending you the coins are covered. You only pay the usual fee for sending your own coins.

Rate

Rates follow the market until your coins arrive, so the final amount can move a little.

Every coin, tied to its network

The list comes live from the exchanges that quote your swap. Each coin is identified by its network and contract together, never by its ticker alone. Some coins can only be sent, or only received: it depends on what the exchanges take and pay out.

Solar Swap's own activity: every swap that finished, valued in dollars when it was opened. Quotes, page views and failed swaps never count.

Who touches what

Security starts with knowing where your data and your coins go. Each ring below can see less than the one inside it. Solar Swap never touches your funds: your coins go from your wallet to the exchange's deposit address, and the exchange pays the swapped coins straight to the address you give.

Your walletThis interfaceSolar Swap serverProviders
  1. 1

    Your wallet

Holds your keys and sends your deposit. Solar Swap never connects to it, and never sees a seed phrase or private key.

  2. 2

    This interface

Runs in your browser. It knows only the addresses you type into a swap, and cannot move funds on its own.

  3. 3

    Solar Swap server

Validates every request, rate-limits, and keeps API keys out of the browser. Its swap service opens your order at the exchange with your address as the destination and follows it. It never touches your funds: there is no Solar Swap wallet on the way, and nothing it could hold back.

  4. 4

    Providers

The exchange that carries out your swap, and CoinGecko for market data. The exchange sees your deposit, your receiving address and, if it needs one, your refund address, and pays you directly.

Solar Swap never asks for your seed phrase or private keys, and every transfer on the way to you can be checked on-chain. Read the security notes for how your coins and data are handled.

Before you ask

All questions
Can I swap tokens on Solar Swap today?

Yes. Pick two coins and an amount, then give the address that receives your coins and a refund address. You get a one-time deposit address: send exactly the amount shown, and the swap's page follows it until your coins arrive, showing the payout's transaction hash the moment it's sent.

What does Solar Swap charge?

A fee on every swap, already taken out of the amount you receive and shown as its own line on every quote. Nothing is added on top. Besides that, you only pay the usual network fee for sending your coins.

Does Solar Swap hold my funds?

No. You send your coins to the exchange's deposit address, and the exchange pays the swapped coins straight to the address you gave. Solar Swap's fee is collected by the exchange and paid to Solar Swap separately. Solar Swap never asks for your seed phrase or private keys.

Why can't I find a token?

Only coins the exchange behind Solar Swap can swap are listed, each identified by its network and contract together. A look-alike token with a copied name or symbol on another contract won't match. Search by name, ticker or contract address, or pick a network to narrow the list.
